I'm guessing that Hernan is using more inductance and less capacitance in his series resonant circuit than in his previous parallel resonant circuit (LCLR arrangement.) The workpiece only cares about ampere-turns, so if you achieve your ampere-turns with lots of turns instead of lots of amperes then the tank capacitor has an easier life in terms of the required current handling. The problem is now that it has to deal with a higher voltage, so you are partly trading dielectric losses for conduction losses. In the case of an MMC-type construction you also have less parallel strings, so even though the current is reduced it probably gets just as hot!

Obviously you can design the parallel resonant and series resonant circuits to have any characteristic impedance that you want. In general though, I think series resonant networks are designed for a higher characteristic impedance at resonance than parallel resonant circuits, so the ciculating currents may be lower. The lower characteristic impedance of the parallel resonant network at resonance is "inverted" by the action of the L-match network in the LCLR arrangment so they both appear like series resonant networks to the driving voltage source anyway.

I'm using more turns coil. it's inductance is about 4.6uHy because capacitance is low 0.175uF aprox.
yes Richie, I meant more turns and less amps I didn't express the concept clear .
we can achieve the same results with both circuits it only depends what is at hand.

I like series because workcoil is some distance away from caps
at expense of stray inductance.

thanks Eirik , Yes I tried your PLL driver with some modifications on it to suit my needs. It works exellent!

basically I would need to change some things and it must stay locked when inverter current be almost in phase with Inverter voltage . correct me if I'm wrong.
