Hello, I currently working on medium size drsstc and it dont works as i expected, I have 38cm long secondary, I'm using this steve's driver with dual ucc's. I made a full bridge of HGTG30N60B3D, with 15V zeners on GS and 1N5819 paralel 10ohm resistor on Gates. It makes only about 1cm long sparks to ground on 24VAC, of course i tried tune circiut and this is the best result i get. I afraid when i connect this coil to 230VAC the bridge will blown as it dont work properly.. Can anyone help me?!sad

Hi mmt,
Have you scoped any signals yet? what mmc value have you chosen? and what interrupter frequency and pulse width are you operating at?
i would put your coil dimensions into JAVATC and see what tuning point it comes up with.
i had the same problem when i built my smallest DRSSTC and it turned out to be a faulty UCC due to one of anti-latchup diodes on the output pins (6&7) being dry jointed.
i am a poor man i dont have any scope or freqence meter, only one basic mulitmeter...:( and my mmc is another strange thing, Iam using one simple program for some TC calculations and it says my MMC value used to be 167nF so i put there one and sparks length was wery small, so i put there more of them and it seem the more I put there the bigger sparks i get but i stoped at 1uF witch is absolutly different from my calculations and with this cap I get the biggest sparks.. Iam using this interrupeter here with max ON and OFF time pots resistance, My resonant freqence is 123,56 kHz and calculated MMC is 167nF. and here are all my coil preferences:
Primary coil dia: 18 cm wire(pipe) dia: 6 mm #turns: 7 height: 7,7 cm
Secondary coil dia: 11 cm coil height: 38,5 cm wire dia: 0,2 mm
