It's all about time and money. A stronger tower is more expensive to build. It is more expensive to lift. Larger blades do mean more power, but one then needs to build a bigger alternator. This means more steel, more magnets, and more wire. Again, this is added cost. Finally, more power requires a larger inverter, or else the power is lost as the winds pick up.

If I could, I would build a 100' tower with a 20-25' diameter rotor. Now that would be impressive to see.8-)

This is my first tower raising. I tested the winch brake by releasing it. It starts to fall before I engage the brake. If the brake didn't work I would have a lot of scrap metal! This tower is only 36' tall: Link2

Here I am cutting the blade profile with a chainsaw. After this I have to sand it smooth with the proper contour: Link2
