I decided to start another project Tesla coil, this time using my Dual-MOT. starting at the source, which ended today, modified the old source for a more modern ... Differences: -Select 110/220 -High Voltage Terminals -Container more resistant -Mineral oil NEW

I was thinking of upgrading my spark gap coil to a Quad Mot SG coil. Didn't you build a quad mot coil a while ago. What spark length did you get with the quad mot coil, and what do you expect with a dual mot coil?

Looks good, Alexandre! That rsg is badass and the MOT bank looks professional . Looking forward to seeing some sparks...
SteveC, you can expect quite alot out of MOTs. With 2 MOTs in series, limited to 600 watts (the max reoccurring wattage, fluctuates alot) i could get about 4 feet, with a srsg and 72nf, which is too little in fact. Higher voltage would probably work better even at the same wattage. I used my two huge identical MOTs... They did not heat a bit, which is why i chose them.

Only, I think it will stop being badass after the acrilyc/lexan or whatever thermoplast you used for the disc melts under heat load and falls apart. And it might be twice un-badass when those HV terminals that are in direct contact with wood start arcing to it and setting it on fire. I don't know whether you might get away with it or not, but that's something I'd fix about this rotary gap.
Apart from that, Alexandre, can you tell us more about the coil specifications? Dual-mot looks like rather low voltage for an AC coil. So is your design going to be AC, with a SRSG, or DC resonant charging with doubler on the MOT's? And in any case, why did you decide that you require belt transmission anyway?

SteveC - I did a quad-mot, I in my coil something around 2M I make this Dual-Mot to get something compact
Marko - The secondary coil is 40cm X 4" AWG 24 ... Primary still seeing some who have ... Cap 30nf
I have AC in the first test but did not have much success, see the video .. I am thinking of using my QUAD-MOT, I try to do one more test, but I will not get much .

Agreed about the arcing wood. I have had that happen very many times... The heating of the disk might as well be a problem. Maybe spinning will cool the electrodes down enough, though?
About 4kvac for a coil is not easy to get it working, and it is probably way less efficient, but it will work fairly well. It is just too much of a pain to get to work sometimes... My srsg had a gap of about 1mm between the electrodes to fire well. Not that easy to do with wood, no good way to tighten the disk to the motor, and few measurement tools (i used a ruler.)

Edit: I fixed an error.
I have made a Tesla coil using a 3KV 15mA NST and achieved wispy streamers that measured six inches in length and six and a half to a grounded object. That's 45W at 3KV. With a little bit of creative engineering, 4KV shouldn't be a problem, after all, there are Tesla coils that run off of less than 120VAC in the primary circuit and have beautiful output.
