About 3 months ago I started my EML. I had it with 16 camera capacitors charged to 330V by using a SCR and a 555, single fet driven flyback core charger. The charge time was less than 20 seconds using 12V 400ma wall transformer. Since I did work on my flyback SGTC, and my 4.5X24" NST SGTC, It has been under my bed for over 3 months. So I'm deciding to take it out, and get it finished.

Awhile ago, my boombox CD player failed. It destroyed one of my brothers CD by scratching it badly. I tried to fix it but it couldn't be done, so I ripped it apart. Seeing all that space in it, I thought it was a good time to start using my dremel on a few support columns, Thus came that my thing works :) 3 months ago, it features

* Cap bank inside
* Light indicator that ONLY lets it fire when the CD tray is 100% UP so it cant damage the lid when fired
* Coil built into the CD tray

A flaw back then, A wire exploded at a connection so when I connected it, boy did it surprise me!

From that time, It fired with 16 camera caps, and easly popped a 2X3" metal rectangle over 12ft. Now, I doubled it, and still have 370J worth of 400V 470uf caps left. PICTURES!

Note: This was made for a concept/messing. If I wanted power, I wouldn't use such a small case. Even though the coil isn't flat, it still has launched a plate over 12 feet. But I have a rig to make a pancake coil that I'll do soon!

SCR: S8070W, I beleive it's rated 800V with a high surge pulse of 950A. I have tested these with 370J to a dead short over alum foil and they survived. I had done over 30 shots with these on my EML 3 months ago.
