I started to tincker the parts for a new SGTC and the HV source was finished today, It is a common 2 MOTs (had some luck last week and found two cheap units), cap-diode voltage doubler (Greg Hunter duplication). I know that the silicon is sensible but i dont like oil in my room and have some really big diodes around, so I hope that will be OK. The current capability is changeable. I hope to use it for a RSG TC.

Enjoy

I don't know what is worst, oil or the smell of burning flesh. That thing looks very dangerous. Clever to put wheels on it then you will not be tempted to carry it around while it is connected.

???? confused Why would ANYONE be tempted to carry it around while its connected? Actually, it's much safer than many of the MOT set-ups I've seen, since it's not a lash-up and looks pretty well built.
Anyway, nice supply! Any heating problems with the ballasts or anything?

Lol, I trust Vasil not to blow himself up with it. Vasil, did you connect the cores of the MOTs to the ground wire of the mains supply, or leave them floating? I think it would be a good idea to ground them, to save the MOTs from dying if you get a strike to your primary. But then again, if they are grounded, a primary strike will inject serious levels of crud into the mains supply. :(

Anything is just cool (no heat)...but it was not tested in a TC setup yet.

The cores are floating. Believe or not but my electrical ground in the apartment has some problems (thats why i am using the water pipe). I wanted to make a more compact primary, maibe using trifilar multistrand insulated copper wire, exactly setted for resonance.

There are some construction problems i have to solve.

wait your using the water pipe as a ground? so that means you are planning on running a tc in your apartment.
why didnt i think of that?!?
i always get weird looks when i do it in the parking lot.

Yes, in an apartment.
Before using it, you have to be sure that it is totally metalic. Mine is old style pipe, lead made, so it is not a problem, because the apartment is old (it has , i think more than 40 years). Nowdays, the pipe are more plastic, so it can be problems.
