You could probably get away with just using a nice beefy resistor. Since the primary battery will be ~6v and the secondary ~12v, calculating for a 6v drop should give a pretty constant current. I am not sure how fast you want to charge it, but for a 1amp charge surrent you would need ~5ohms of resistance. This resistor should be rated for ~5w.
I made a mistake, the primary is 12volts as well...Now this makes things much easier!I figure a 2amp charge rate would be safe for this battery.Which would mean 6ohm resistor. I wonder if this batterys internal resistance would be enough to just go "naked"?I have a smart battery charger, and it is limited to either 2amps, 4amps, or 6amps to start the charge. Ill have to measure actual current draw while charging to figure it out...

maybe you just need to choke it? My buddy has a scooter and you have to put your hand over the airfilter to start it when its cold. even then, it takes a good 20-30 seconds.

Its got an automatic choke...Its one of those chinese scoots...4 stroke, 49cc...It starts as long as the battery is fully charged, otherwise it just makes for a good laugh from kids passing by on campus(those bastards )Ive since put a 12 volt 17amp battery in my trunk for the time when it decides its not going to start...Yea, i know, a ghetto jump start!
Arg, why did the post office have to lose THIS priority mail package?

I had USPS lose a 200$ nixie clock before, annoying.
Why don't you try replacing the battery?
Im in the process of looking for a good battery that doesnt cost too much. Right now, it seems to be doing fine after disconnecting the alarm/remote start on the scooter. Yea, usps can be quite annoying, as can ups and fedex Matt
