i especially like the "this software runs on the PC, and the plaintiff owns a Mac"...
Oh, and just for laughs it seems that they didn't own the rights on "Meet the Fockers" due to a clerical error. Wonder how many people have paid out to the MAFIAA to "avoid" expensive court fees when there was no need..

I do believe the RIAA and MPAA stopped those types of law suits because of incidents like those.
Their new bright ideas is try and "crack down on the source" by having ISPs throttle torrents, block P2P, etc... like thats working.
Given the amounts they wanted people to pay up to avoid legal fees, its a wonder more people didn't pirate big time software. $6,000 would be fairly small compared to "value" of counterfeit software floating around at the time... Not that I condone piracy. ;)
