This is fantastic stuff. My excell spreadsheets have been updated with these new (to me) information. This will enable me to avoid frying current transformer burdens, which I would have if not for these formula.
The Irms formula is particularly valuable. I have for some time been using the CD 940 series caps, namely 940C12W1P5K-F which is a 1200V/1.5µF cap. They went into the Danfoss coil, and the V-Twin too. This cap was used in the preliminary design setup of this project, where one such cap was resonated at 32kHz, 200µS, 100BPS and for prolonged periods 500Apeak. This works out to 35Arms. The cap did only get lukewarm, although it is rated at only 18Arms, so they are more rugged than announced. This is also needed when 500+ Irms has to be handled.
