Hi )
I'm going to build new DRSSTC and used Scantesla to calculate optimal parameters:

Suggested couping is 0.14. Doesent it seems to be too low? How do you choose coupling?

Coupling for DRSSTC is generally about 0.1 to 0.2, however, that will have to be determined during testing and tuning by raising or lowering the secondary with respect to the primary.

My miniBrute design uses a coupling around 0.1.

Dr. GigaVolt, thank you. Now, when I look how does your coil performs, I understand that 0.14 is not bad at all.

Just keep in mind, that the higher coupling does give better performance, however, you're more likely to have damaging secondary to primary arcing if the coupling is too high.

The secondary on the miniBrute is 4" above the primary coil bottom turn.
