I second this. You can't put SCRs in series and then parallel the gates! RTFM!

Anyway, i have officially fried the gates, cause i am a dumbass. The gates where triggered with a 9volt battery. While testing (it was totally working) the clip that connects to the 9volt battery terminals FELL OFF and i suppose touched the output of my 40 volt transformer. It is rather depressing to know how easily i can kill stuff :/.
Upon further inspection, the 9volt clip thing SUCKS. It does not really hold onto the battery. This clip is likely half a decade-decades old, my father had them for a long time. I should have checked the connection before proceeding.
