Hello Coilers amazed

This weekend i solved testing my source DC and got some results:

First Test:
RSG first put in my one of my coil and the DC source at the entrance, only with resitores in output, it some spark, but realized that the output was still pulsed.

Second Test:
I took my RSG and put a static Spark gap, the results were better, it about 50cm from the arc exit, but was still pulsed.

Third Test:
Find two choke I had another source for a DC and put the output from this source, not only did the choke, because the value is small, but with the resistors worked very well. Around 60cm of arcs ..

Fourth Test:
I put the RSG again, as he is not variable speed, he had some faults, but the results improved, the output of the coil about 80cm out of spark, larger than it so far. However I continue to burn in my capacitors sad

Next steps:
1-I make a variable speed with RSG
2-I want to build a bank of capacitors greater than the former.
3-up and run again ... shades

Video of last test:

Well, i made it, and the doubler worked. I then hooked it up to my tesla coil with about 250 ohms of resistance from a large 100 watt resistor, and it would be a hot and sometimes loud, slow spark at the rsg. I tried as low as a few bps up to thousands. Then, it always kills my diodes. First it was 20 1n4007's and then 2 MO diodes. It makes me think i need a ballast. A resistor that would work would be too high resistance and would have a huge voltage drop, hence tons of heat. I do not have a charging choke that would work. I have 3 MOTs but they would die from overvoltage like my last setup. These DC res circuits hate me. The multipliers always work, i always have a good tank cap with CDE mmc, but they still don't work or don't work well.

By the way i am using 4 MO caps, for a total of .25uf or actually .5uf on each output leg. The MOTs are phased right, i hooked the two cores together and the HV outputs are the output, it is like an NST. It puts out about 4kv judging from the arc.

I am very frustrated, and i have no solder at all to put more diodes together.

And by the way, the resistor is a 1kohm, with a center tap as the input, and the two 'outside' terminals hooked together which are the output. This is on only one leg, might this be a problem? Also, i even tried adding a diode on the output to prevent the capacitor bank bleeding back into the charging circuit. The capacitor bank is about .035uf, at 32kv.

when I tried to use only the resistors in the output of the source, not worked well ...

then decided that a combination of choke, with resistors, work best.

But small amount of choke, I tried to put over the 20H choke, with the resistance, but did not work ...

These two choke I am using, add approximately 2 H, and functioned better and were ...

Do not put a large diode in the output source as tinah told me to make, but by and want to see if the result changes ...

I will make another RSG, and do the tests again ...

So you are using 4H? People such as Roger Smith used 20H on the dual MOT plus doubler Tesla coil. And he got like 6 foot sparks. That is what i want to replicate. Iirc his 10 foot tall Tesla coil used a pole transformer and a doubler? Insane sparks!

Remember:
I'm using resistors and a choke in the output of the source, can then say that this little choke of 2H with the resistors is "equivalent" to use a choke of 20H ..

Well, yesterday i tried two series MOTs for around 20-30H. It did not work well. I decided to tear apart the cap bank, and i made a 32kv 20nf cap bank on the PVC pipe i made the first one on. I tried a 12/60nst but that was a failure, with about 1 and a half to 2 foot sparks. I currently have no more plans for any tesla coils.

Good Day Coilers amazed

Achieve a better result with my DC Tesla coil.

I made some changes and I think that made a difference.

-I put a static-gap in series with my RSG
-Also put a biger Toroid

This test was promising well, about 3.5ft sparks ... cheesey

To friend Arcstarter: do not give up, I also am not getting what I want, but not why I'm leaving the coil of hand ... cheesey

VERY nice results! 3.5 feet is pretty fun cheesey. How many doubler capacitors? The 4 or 2?

And about me quitting Tesla coils. I am not quitting because of all the failures, i just do not find them too exciting. I could tune my current tesla coil and probably get 3 or four foot sparks, but after that i would just put it away until i spent hundreds more on a different one, which would work out the same way.

The Double uses 4 MOC's, 2 banks of 2 in parallel.

1243195766 1228 FT68911 Pict0002

But even with this result I am not liking the circuit itself, this very strange, resistors and choke does not work very well, yet I will see how to make a decent choke, and put the coil ...

Only problem is knowing the best value ...

Roger was giving us a force, let's see if he reads this message cheesey
