how about a thread about the very real dangers of chemicals and electricity. After all, isn't really this forum about education and helping ppl understand what they're doing with stuff... not mis-information?

This is a very real scientific thing, it is also in the general chatting thread. A young highschool kid in the U.S. used this as his high school project, and went asking for signatures from people for a petition to ban this "evil chemical" I think out of 50 people, 43 signed to ban it outright, 6 where undecided, and only 1 knew what it was. The title of his high school paper? How gullible are we?

I agree, the 14 y/o student's study 9 years ago may have been a good topic for discussion... however having been on the recieving end of being fed mis-information by someone i respected just for their laughs is not nice, and I no longer have any respect for my father.

The whole point of the DHMO thing is a satire on our media and how it's obsessed with sensationalising everything. By a bit of clever journalism, you can make water look like an evil deadly substance whereas in fact it's no more dangerous than radiation from cellphones or bird flu.
