All,

I was browsing trough the list of "top posters", (I know, I'd better get a life), anyway, noticing that all the top posters had a full line of stars, indicating their high ranking in the site.

A few pages down, some irregularities emerged:

1240236179 205 FT0 Users

And according to this chart, the ranking is not alltogether linked to number of posts, but also some stealth behaviour. Bennem and Chris knows how to use this to their benefit, the others don't.
How are the rules of site ranking put together?

Cheers, Finn Hammer

The ratings are based on page loads and posts. How exactly I don't know

It's been discussed before, in this thread you can find the exact formula which is used to calculate the points to determine the ranking.

Yeah, there isn't anything strange with that rating. Why?
I'm glad in this forum there isn't as much "posting just to boost the rating" compared to what I have seen in other forums. One solution a forum came up with was to just have all the ratings hidden from the forum section but have it displayed in the profile's of the individual poster. (hope that made sense)

This is perhabs the only forum I have been a user on for a "long" time where there are little to none postcount whoring.

Its great that it can mostly be on topic or atleast somewhat related :D, instead of all the +1 +1 +1 +1 etc.

Sadly the multiplier for either new threads or comments is 5x, whereas views is only 1x... There should be some multiplier to post length (excluding bbcode and images)

Rankings that include post count and weight it heavily just add in my opinion to the problem of people posting just for the post count. I won't mention names but some people have improved, while some others have started typing longer meaningless posts to mask that they aren't really adding anything to the conversation.

Just my thoughts though.
