The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
i use three 10kA puk scrs to switch the stages, dont ask why they are so overrated, i have a lot of them and got them very cheap.
the second and third stage are optical triggered with a IR transistor and a blue Led (yeah, i have IR diodes but they are all scrap)
first testrun with one stage got good results and im sure it will perform even better with all 3 stages.
today i wound my charge transformer, and i think i can do the first testshoot with 2 stages tommorow to see how well or bad it performs
yeah, and i started to build a velocity counter with the good old 4000s series ic´s to measure the velocity of my projectiles, nerly finished here are a few pics

Good job. What is your goal ouput in speed and joules? Some prefere speed over Joules or Joules over speed for large slugs given same efficiency.
I did notice the brass barrel, correct? It does drop efficiency, and only you will know that exact amount for your particular setup once you try a non metallic barrel. Could be .2% less could be %2. Slotting does help.
More imporantly, enamel coating is not all that protective. Don't do this but if you touch ground with one hand and with the other hand touch the enamel of a coil when charged, you will get shocked, slightly. Add a few layers of tape over the brass where the coils are wound because over time the potential difference between adjacent coils slowly causes micro through the enamel in the brass barrel and eat away the enamel coating. Then one day you shoot and hear a bang for no reason later to see burnt marks on the brass tube wondering why this occured randomly.

yeah, i know that a brass barrel is not the first choice, but that was what i had on hand and it seems to work fine. before i wound my coils on it, i insulated the barrel with two layers of tape. the optical sensors are working fine and today i can test it the first time with two and three stages. my goal is a efficiency of around 2% or more (hopefully)
