I'm looking for some site that would be selling a large amount of magnet wire (preferred 28AWG) for a tesla coil. Besides just eBay, is there really any other sites that offer it for lower prices for large quantities, or is eBay the only way to go? Most of the sites I discovered ask a lot for 4+ pounds of 28awg :(

Thanks!

Go for parawire. All of their magnet wire is double build insulation. It is indeed a tiny bit thicker, but it is twice the insulation, and only 100 or so turns less per finished secondary. Just a few extra turns, and it is a bit longer but twice the insulation and the same amount of turns.

If you're looking for flat magnet wire, Alphacore Direct has stuff from 32-11awg but with a 10lb minimum order with various cross-sectional ratios and insulation classes. These would be nice for coilguns or any project needing high density.

Amidon Corporation has magnet wire that you can order direct from their site, including 200 degree Celsius thermalize-coated magnet wire up to 10 AWG.
