hi, i need some wiring help for my NST, it has the following markings.

FranceFormer
Gaseous Tube Transformer

cat: 7560-p
pri: 120V 450VA
Sec: 7500V 60ma

secondary mid-point grounded

What i am confused about is how i connect it to get the full 7500 Volts... I picked it up new but with no manual. Do i just connect the two HV output lines like i would connect the + and - of a battery... and do i need to connect the ground...
I was looking at some manuals to similar transformers and there were so many ways to connect it... It looked to me like you only connected ground if you wanted only 1 of the terminals, giving half the voltage... Could someone please explain things to me and how i need to wire it to get the full voltage.

I would assume that most of you on this site have used these transformers as they seem quite popular in Tesla Coils, so hope you can help.
and btw i am using it to power a tesla coil.
Thanks guys...

Yes, you connect them like you would connect a battery but it's ac voltage so there would be no real + and/or - terminal. The transformer is mid point grounded so there are 2 secondary windings and the ends are grounded to the case so each high voltage winding would be 3750v potential to ground and 7500v potential across the 2 high voltage outputs. Yes the case must be grounded or you would leave it "floating" and you would get a nasty shock if you accidently touched the case.

Just as teslacoolguy explained, the voltage across the two high voltage outputs is the full 7500v. This will be across the two standoff insulators. The primary connection is just the two terminals without the large insulators, but will usually have one insulator that both terminals share. To these you just connect the power cord.

(just trying to make sure there was no confusion, as this is hazardous voltage)

thanks... and i assume the other terminal is the earth, that should be connected to ground, not mains ground though...?

i have a 10 meter mains cable so i will be no where near it when i switch on.
