Hello,

i have few friends with DEDAL night scopes and their iluminators failed. The laser diode inside is dead, and cant find replacement anywhere. Can somebody point me in right direction where to buy cheaply whole illuminator or replacement laser diodes.

It should necesarrily be laser illuminator because they use it in ranges of 200-400 m for long range sport shooting in night discipline.

Just tear open any CD-burner. You can find stupidly powerful IR laser diodes in a lot of places. A cheap green laser pointer (5 mw even) should have a IR diode > 20mW, maybe even more I forget the efficiency of the DPSS process. What kind of power levels do you need?

I would recomend the IR diode out of a cd-r drive (get the fastest one you can find) because it will be singlemode--which makes it far easier to focus. it is unclear if your existing illuminator used a multimode diode or not (probably it did) but the singlemode one will work in either case. If you want something brighter I would recomend getting a diode off ebay. as matt mentioned there are tons of them available
