Anyone else see the United 93 trailer yet? Definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, considering the only reason i could see that they made the film was to exploit the events of 9-11 and make a nice profit. Maybe i'm missing something, but i can't see any other reason why they would make a film like this. Its not like we need a reminder to remember the events of five years ago . . .

I have… horrible… they just want $$$, the exploitation of such an event is evil… Pearl Harbor wasn’t exploited until 60 years after the event… that was still too soon… why is $ so important to these rich producers? Don’t they have enough to get them thew life? The families of the dead don’t need a reminder so soon… why would they do this?...

Sadly, most people DO need a reminder EVR, Just look at what [those who have forgotten] are complaining about now. The whole domestic spying fiasco, and the treasonous actions of the persons who leaked the classified info pertaining to it, is just one example. I think we need to be reminded everyday of what happened. Having said that, I too saw the trailer and it also left a sour taste in my mouth. It is just to fresh a scar to be profiting off of. And that is exactly what the producers are after. Hollywood has been a shit factory lately and IMO are using 9/11 just for its drawing power, they know alot of shlubs will go see it.

Not to troll with this still very sensitive subject, but politicians, news media, and commercial folk have been exploiting the tragedy for years.
Often the degree of loss (not just US citizens) was/is overshadowed by the Skinner style conditioned isolationist response -- It is easier to assume the problems were/are external. Most (52% last election) if not all people have forgotten/ignored the interesting events prior. The numerous failed strategies in foreign diplomacy meant many people knew there was going to be some sort of problem that year. No one person could bare the responsibility of fault, as Bin hiding had not provided a clean answer yet.
“Bad people often get away with doing bad things – they only win if they change who you are for the worse!â€
People seem to care more about each other, their country, and respecting peoples’ memory.
We can only hope peace will prevail in calmer times.

Has a point, Bush has for years exploited this… he has used this topic to start a war, push us farther into nation dept, and get reelected. I am not trying to start a war of politics, but its true, the current national dept is over 3 trillion dollars!

I'm sure all of us have very strong feelings of various kinds about George W. Bush. Goodness knows I do, and I don't even live in America. But this is a forum for science, not politics, so I don't see what good can come of trying to debate something like this.
I wonder why nobody accused Michael Moore of profiting from the tragedy when he made Fahrenheit 9/11?

Moore is an opportunistic small time filmmaker that saw his chance to draw awareness to his own political beliefs by selling controversy back to the masses. They did edit his documentary to remove the controversial scenes of soldiers acting badly – ironically the behaviours came to light through mainstream news a few years later.

Wise words. We're a large community of people from many nations, and many walks of life. Instead of trying to explore how we're different, let's see if we can find some common ground for a change.
Lay off the hot button topics for a while, folks. This is getting out of hand.
