Interesting! Maybe the Western Winter Teslathon needs a "kill the car" event. I have no idea how it would work, but I'd wager TDU could come up with something.

I could imagine a HV based event...

Start with projectile launchers to see how much damage can be inflicted, coil guns, rail guns, ring launchers, etc.

Move onto radiative energy (HERF) and see what can be done with magnetrons. Then tesla coils, how much energy does it take to fry the ECU and the remaining electronics of a car?

Then last but not least, pulse discharge directly into the already fried brains of the car.

Oh, and then all the geeks can start salvaging parts of the car, pumps, motors, wiring, fuses, relays, etc.

Something along the lines of discharging all of the charge stored in the upper atmosphere through the work coil comes to mind...

Who wants to build a lightning powered car shrinker? :D
