I suspect there's a leaky capacitor in the voltage regulation circuit for the crystal. A significant voltage change would be required and unless you know or can find the correct voltage you'll have to 'reverse engineer' the circuit to see if it's operating correctly.
A timing capacitor may have a broken wire, look for (probably two) small ceramic or polystyrene capacitors near the crystal and check if the leads are ok.

I got home today, the timing was even more off, a whole hour today. The clock is currently chilling out in the freezer (pun intended), after 25 minutes of runtime its already 10 minutes ahead. I think that maybe some electrolytics are toasted, the magnitude of the error keeps increasing as time goes on...
Edit: clock decided to reset itself and lost track of time at cold temperatures, I believe that the clock is actually being affected by the cold temperatures overnight....
