Ok, so I got an SSH Connection to a specified folder within my htdocs folder to work, great

but, whenever I transfer a file it's name is changed to "~" in the folder on the server... I can change it via the PuTTY SSH terminal, but it is an annoyance when I have to transfer more than one file

Does anyone know how I can fix this??

If you are moving a lot of files arround, you might want to look into winscp, which is a graphical sftp client. As to the putty issue, I would assume you are using the command wrong, but without more details its hard to say...

Sounds like a typo. If you're using SFTP command lines to say something like:

scp ./myfile.txt me@myserver:~

You probably mean by ~: "Put the file in my home directory", but the computer may think you want to rename the file to ~. Try a trailing slash:

scp ./myfile.txt me@myserver:~/

Or use WinSCP and just drag and drop the files you want copied. If it still screws up with WinSCP, the server is probably misconfigured and you should try complaining to whoever administers it.

first I am using the "put" command in PuTTY's PFTP Program, and as such
"put C:/Users/Owner/Desktop/bt4install.pdf ~/"

second, I am the admin... but I admit, I have not done the best job, but I have had limited time to work on it (the monitor, keyboard, and mouse are used by another computer which is used a lot... I have been trying to run an ethernet cable to my work area because in there I could work on it all I wanted...

EDIT: I may not want to do it, but I am just going to type out the full address from now on... annoying yes, but it works...
