I've built Steve Wards high side gate drivers acording to this schematic: Link2

I'm using these fet's: Link2 Link2

I just started testing them with a 22 ohm resistor for R7 but somehow there's a strange transission in the speed it turns the cm-300 module on. Here's a trace of the gate voltage Link2 is this normal? If not what could be the problem

It's Normal, dont expect the "ideal" waveforms when the driver is connected to the "real" transistor (body effects)

That small flat area on the trace is called the Miller plateau; behavior such as this is entirely normal for both MOSFETs and IGBTs. If it's bothering you, a stronger gate driver or one with TrueDrive technology can help overcome this plateau.

Ok thanks guys, I just wanted to be sure since it's the first high side driver I'm using now. Going to power the coil up in a few hours so expect some sparks comming the forums way smile

Hi
i making IGBT driver for my HF DRSSTC. even for IGBT gate, my driver using 15W (Cgs=4.3uC) of power
i am using STD12NF06 and STD10PF06, and wave form is pretty good
it was 2Rg, i can't use more, because i will have same as you ( Vgs sad )
