I recently acquired 2 insulators to be used in my 125KV X-Ray Transformer. I removed the Federal connectors & now have just the two threaded sleeves on the top of the enclosure. The lower flanges on the insulators are just a bit too big to drop down inside the threaded sleeves. Anyone know of any abrasive that will cut through porcelain & glaze ??
This transformer would look really nice with these insulators instead of plain vanilla Federal connectors.
Thanks, bob

Maybe more practical to enlarge the holes in the case?

I have found tile-cutting tools useful in cutting and shaping ceramic coil formers.
Or if the shape allows it, you might be able to mount the insulators in a lathe or drill press, and grind them down with carborondum paste.
Be patient, avoid sudden mechanical shocks at all costs, and keep the work cool with plenty of water-based cutting fluid.
