HGTG20N60A4D vs HGTG20N60C3D

I need some advice.:-D

Alright, so I recently ran out of the igbt's I normally use for DRSSTC's and other crap. I've been using the HGTG20N60A4D, data sheet here Link2 but as I was browsing mouser electronics I found another version the HGTG20N60C3D datasheet here Link2 What I notice is they are both pretty similar but the c3d version can pump 300 amps while the a4d pumps 280 so it would seem the c3d is better not to mention cheaper, BUT......

What's got me stumped about this is even though the timings are pretty similar there is a chart on both data sheets titled: OPERATING FREQUENCY vs COLLECTOR TO EMITTER CURRENT. On this chart the a4d is clearly faster and at any given point can actually handle more current than the c3d. The chart also goes up to 500KHz on the a4d but only 100KHz on the c3d even though their timings are very close. I don't get it, am I missing something here? Which one is better? I wan't to try the c3d but I dont want to risk buying 100 of them only to have them be worse.

Oh yeah and another thing. The SSOA is 100A @ 600v for the A4D and 20A @ 600v for the C3D. What exactly does that mean?

I have seen the same with other IGBTs, they make a cheaper version that is "optimized" for lower frequencies.

SSOA is Switching Safe Operating Area. Also sometimes known as commutating SOA. This is the amount of current that the IGBT can safely turn-off without latchup.
