After a down period, it appears that posts younger than 16/01/09 are lost?

Cheers, Finn Hammer

Do you have the originating IP of the attack? This should be the type of thing that ISP abuse desks care about.

I do, but it belongs to a shell hosting company in Russia. I doubt they're willing to do anything about it. I'm better off spending my time hardening the server than trying to chase down a script kiddie.

Grr... can't these annoying script kiddie muppets do something constructive with their time?

Can any of the posts be recovered from Firefox cache?

also, is this related to the Conficker worm that is doing the rounds../.

regards, -A

Conficker is a Windows worm, it wouldn't affect the server. Everything I've got here seems to indicate it was an automated attack, probably to be followed up later with an attempt at a rootkit or similar.

In any case, it's been completely eradicated, at the cost of a week's worth of data. A painful loss to be sure, but it certainly beats losing everything.
