This is my 833C VTTC, I have been working on it for over four months. Working on this project has been quite enjoyable, and I have learned quite a lot while working on it. I've been told by several people that the enclosure looks 'vintage'. I did not try to make the enclosure look vintage, but now I like the idea of it looking vintage. I still have a bit of polishing to do to make the coil really look finished. I need to rebuild my primary because I burnt the one pictured below. Before I burnt the primary I was already planning on rebuilding it; I now I have an excuse to rebuild the primary sooner than I anticipated.

I'm trying to find a way to make the primary match the 'vintage' style of the rest of the coil. More importantly, I want the primary to be aesthetically pleasing and look like it belongs on the coil. My old primary failed to do this, and it stuck out like a sore thumb. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Love the "umbrella spark" picture

Why don't you cover the primary former with those "vinils" that are imitation of wood ? (I don't know how they are called). It will look like a part of the base.

Thanks for the kind words. I will keep up the good work, as it's the only kind I believe in.

I think the wood-like covering came to mind once, but I quickly shot it down. My style is to go all the way, and I don't think I could live with the vinyl cover. I think if I made the primary form look like a wood tube it might be too much wood. I'm not sure though.

Right now the primary form is hideous, I had to tear off the burnt wire and there are still scars on the PVC where the wire melted to it. This is all topped off by some beat up 10 AWG held in place by tape. I want to nail down the tuning before I make a permanent primary. I'm thinking about going with Litz wire for the primary, but I'm not sure if the cost is worth it.

Only suggestion is the seals of the 833 are under stress radiating 100 watts of heat. The tube will start getting gassy reducing output. Maybe open a small hole in socket base in middle and pass air up.

On primary, have tried a few things and flat transformer wire seems to work well, looks cool with rounded edges (works well for HV). Found on ebay and was not expensive.

What is the size of the white PVC form? May have a tube of clear plexy can send you.

I have noticed that the radiators on the top get very hot. I guess I'll have to find some way to put vents there without compromising the looks.

The primary on your 810 coil is beautiful, well all of them for that matter. I look forward to seeing some of your coils in person on Mar 7. I'll be coming with Cameron Prince. Hopefully I'll finish my tabletop [carry-on luggage size] Tesla coil by then.

I use a 6.25in OD primary form. Let me know if you have any of that acrylic tubing.

What is the black trim around the primary?

Maybe get some of that old textile wrapped wire for the primary?

And very good looking VTTC indeed, im well impressed :)
