Where the coil ends and you run the wire to the top centre output connection, what is recommended for use to stop corona discharge along this wire from burning the tube on which it is running on the side of. Non flammable and preferably somewhat salvageable if i ever need to get at the wire for some reason (break etc).

I am asking for a 2 second fix something people would have in their garage! not a $1000 makeover! I am asking because im sure people here have more experience then me as to the electrical and flammable properties of things than me.

Ok, I see. Trying to make a repair and avoid future occurrences. Was also considering varnish myself too. Well actually my first thought was wax, but that is flammable.

Clear RTV silicone works pretty well. I used this stuff on top of my 6" coil without hassle. No corona problems now - even at 850 kV! This doesn't go on the windings BUT over the output wire at the top of the pipe.
