I love seeing what people come up with and seeing how neat and nice some peoples circuit boards are. So why not start another thread?

I have made 3, and i am about to go make another one, as they are FUN!

Well I dont have a photo but my worst circuit board would have to be the one that got left in the etching tank over the school holidays... No copper left at all.

I recently completed 2 projects, a SSTC modulator and a solid state variac, in the first case I got over-etching on one of the outer-most traces causing 555's to blow up until I fixed it. In the second case I got under-etching and a short between groundplane and a signal trace causing more 555's to blow up.

I'm too lazy to take photos, but the boards were done using the toner transfer method, I've found that if you have a ground plane, the board etches more quickly, and if the solution gets weak and you have to let the board sit longer, there is more sacrificial copper in the groundplane vs important traces being eaten away. If you put your traces too close to the edge of the board and you don't have a groundplane between the edge, and the trace, you get overetching.

This board is now missing a few components but you get the idea smile

Hey, be nice dammit!

I don't have any pictures of it, but 20 years ago, before I started using chemicals too, I knife etched and peeled the copper away by hand!

Some boards I made a while back(many from the chat room have probably seen these), and the one on the bottom I'm currently working on. All are SMT of course, as all my resent boards are and shall be. The one in the middle is 100% lead free as well, which is a pain in the arse for SMT reflow.

That was the "worst" circuit board. I don't have any "best" one since I've drawn them all with a permanent marker... Maybe someday I'll figure out how to draw a circuit board on PC, then print and etch it without any special tools...

I wish I had photos of some boards and their reverse sides...

I made a bunch of boards for a spectrum analyzer a while back, they are pretty decent but I seemed to have alot of trouble getting all the holes to line up properly. Otherwise the boards turned out decent and they worked, I should have added a ground plane, but it didn't seem to mind.
