here you can find datasheets for almost every component found on the surface of earth, its not a bad idea to research simple things as voltage ratings yourself :)
if its just for a delayed rocket igniter, why not used a long piece of wire, atleast then you decide when to fire it, it would be sad to activate the timer, run and look back to see the rocket tilt before launch :)

good to know! :D, if i had know the voltage rating of the transistor was the limeting factor i would have searched for it myself :P
what about just running it of the 18v battery, would that work?
at first i thought i would just have used a cable-drum but i found out(the hard way) that i would loose to much current that way, i couldnt get the wire to glow at all
