Hi everyone !! I've been trying out various flyback/ ignition coil drivers from various sources. Among the ones i tried the 555/mosfet (the basic one) and the zvs drivers are the best delivering unmatched performance and ruggedness . I know there are various alterations for the 555 circuit, i've tried some but most of them fails. Never tried the IGBT drivers but heard they work good as well so plz share some information on the IGBT drivers ! I would like to dedicate this thread to the different 'modified drivers' as well as other good ckts along with the IGBT drivers. Kindly share your experiences with them !!

I built a IGBT bridge that drives flybacks and ignition coils, It was able to put almost 1kW in to a ignition coil, but then the coil arced over internally. Bridges output the most power, but they are more complicated and need protection to the reliable.

Arcs igniting at 6-12cm (modern diodesplit transformers), 200+W of power from a single-ended driver. The resonant capacitor (parralel to the primary) is the key.
Of course bridge is the best for high powers, and for extra powers, implementing a soft-switching technique (SLR,CFPR) may be benefical.
