So I'm thinking about building a small tabletop VTTC. I have a bunch of 12AX7's and also some 12FQ8's. After some preliminary research I imagine I could parallel the triodes in the AX7 (perhaps parallel two tubes for four triodes) and drive it from a voltage doubler straight from mains to get 250v. Has anyone ever tried a mini coil with one of these small tubes?

I doubt you could get anything from the 12ax7's. Even with 2 tubes(four triodes) paralleled, it would only be like 5ma max current and 250 volts? That is only 1.25 watts.
Same with the 12FQ8's. I am sure someone will disagree, but i wouldn't even try it.
