Yes, i made a ZVS. Of course, the sparks are tiny but now i know why it pulled such little current. It was all because of my power supplies. They are smps's and rated for little current. With the 555 i was pulling very small current at 44 volts with the smps's as well. It is not that the power supplies where being overloaded, it is just that it would not even pull enough current. But i stupidly pulled my mosfets off my zvs to use on the 555 driver, and they both died. New mosfets, and i will run my zvs off my rewound mot, spark ought to be great.

This is worth of making if you are looking for stupidly high voltages from your flyback. I made one with SG3525 and IRFP460. I was able to push it up to 70Volts befor my flyback blew cheesey Arcs were starting from over 10cm and whole flyback was glowing blue due 'tiny' corona leak

Maybe oil immersed flyback next time. It failed because of flash over from HV connector to bottom pins and then whole thing caught on fire. ZVS may give you more power but this gives definately more fun. Mosfet cooling is important, i actually lapped my IRFP and made sure that it had best possible contact to heatsink (Athlon 64 boxed heatsink/fan)

Yes, these 555 drivers are capable of some SERIOUS voltage! Way more than zvs, especially if you want low power and high voltage. I am sure that a flyback driven right to the edge would be more than enough to power a lifter with just a voltage doubler. Maybe even without. My flyback was producing maybe around 80-100kv. The distance suggests 156kv, but that distance is from two spherical objects(thank you Jan Martis :P)

If you didn't notice, at highest frequency, the arcs sounded like a zvs driver spark. Basically silent, but when it ignites and extinguishes it has a kinda loud sound.
