Hi all,

After a few tests with my DRSSTC and the OCD, my IGBT's blowed up, but it was strange, because I limited it to 50A only. and the IGBT are for 200A Pulsed. IGBT's was cool when blowed.

Ok, I was see on the forum some people talking about the reverse diode, that in some TO247 have a low current. That IGBT that I use have a Reverse Diode with only 5.4A Capabilty, I think its too low. (SGTW30NC60WD)

So I get the version without the diode (STGW30NC60W), and now, what diode should I use ? I was thinking about use it for 150A .

Other thing, I have two MiniBrick mosfets (STE45NK80ZD) with 45A 800V and 600W of dissipation. It has a 180A Pulsed current, the diode and the mosfet. It is a good think to use on a DRSSTC? Or do I keep it with a big ass SSTC?

Thanks!

Just add your own reverse diode in parallel with the igbt drain and source.

Yeah, that I was thiking about, but what diode I should use? I mean, what current it needs to handle? Something like Primary Current?

It will see the same peak current as the primary circuit does, but the duty cycle for the diodes is much less than the IGBTs.

I suspect a 30-40A ultrafast diode in a 247 package is plenty good. Diodes are hard to break.
