Well, no circuit can work from zero volts. A potential difference is always needed to move charge around in a circuit, in order for work to be done. If you were exaggerating I have no idea how low you want it to operate from, but component limitations are what stop it from oscillating at very low voltages.

He is just referring to how you need to give it about 10v before the circuit starts oscillating.
The answer is to just connect the 2 470r resistors to a separate 12v source that is always on. The circuit will oscillate slightly from the leakage currents in the diodes/fets, and will run off of any input voltage you feed it up to about 50v when the fets explode.

Mine works from 5v thou very small ark.:-) But mine is not exact to the mazilli driver i use a really large inductor and a ferrite step up transformer from my 1200w inverter it takes in 12v and steps it up to about 50v and goes to one internal primary on my fly back. I took one of those step up transformers apart and the primary's are 3+3 turns.here it is but im not sure how many uH my inductor is and i am using a .47uf at 250v instead of .68uf capacitor.
