hi. i recently received an old computer for parts, but when i was looking at it there was nothing wrong except that the monitor jack on the back was pulled out. So i took the motherboard out and pushed the jack back onto its plugs and put it all together and plugged it in. It all worked great! worked perfectly and i was planning to have the computer as a shop/Linux/experimenting machine. But to night the monitor stopped connecting. When i plug in the moniter with all other plugs in place and try to turn it in, the light gos green for a second and then goes to orange. This happens no matter how many times i plug and unplug it. I also re soldered the ground connection on the jack a few times. As soon as i disconnect the monitor with the computer on the monitor comes on and flashes the old "cable disconnected" message. Any help? Is there something wrong with the video card? By the way the computer sounds like it's booting up.
thanks!

My best guess is that there is a loose connection with video connector, probably an internal layer in the motherboard (pretty much all motherboards have more than just the top/bottom copper that is visible)
Your best bet would probably be to grab an old ISA videocard, or a new old motherboard (or while you are at it, get a cheep new one--you can get a board with an into atom soldered down to it for less than $100 these days that only drays 10w and would probably kick your currents mobo's ass see intel D945GCLF2)
