Help. I sell a copper cleaning product (citric acid based). I received a call that the tarnish had been removed with cleaner, but that IMMEDIATELY after began to tarnish again. i know this happens with muratic acid - but have never had this happen to my customers before.

And don't rinse it with tap water! Tap water has dissolved minerals that will cause the copper to tarnish very quickly, so if you are going to rinse it use DI water.

Tap water should normally be ok - the important part is to thoroughly rinse with hot water and IMMEDIATELY dry the copper, at work we use an air line to dry copper quickly. Ensure that no sweat etc. from handling remains .. a detergent is good for this after de-tarnishing.
