Hi all,
I just did my first test of a audiomod circuit I knocked up, its still very much in developement but I was so excited after hearing the first test I just had to post it!
2917340942 4e0ccb44fc M
Its a really simple circuit, only 3 chips and a couple of passives.
Basically it uses a 74xx221 dual non-retriggerable monostable to convert sine waves to fixed width pulses (soon to be dynamic width for volume modulation), with an upper cap on the duty cycle.
Anyway I won't carry on too much, here are some waveforms:
(the square wave is the output, the sine the input, you get the idea)

I know its dodgy , but heres a photo of the circuit and pcb, I'd love to upload the pcbExrpess project, is there a files upload section somewhere on 4hv?

=== edit pcb removed ( bad layout ) ===

I have only done a run at 100us burst width, 80v to primary but it was great! Chords and beats between notes, very cool.
And SO SIMPLE!
I'm driving it with an old cheapo syntheziser from the tip, but ANY line level audio source will do.
I will try to get some audio happening and post it, or perhaps a youtube video.
Anyway, if anyone wants the files just PM me your email.
I've been putting off audiomod thinking it would be hard, not anymore cheesey .

Oh, and again this is in early developement, just put it together today, but dont let that put you off, knock one together and check it out cheesey !
Next upgrade will be varying the burst width (volume) based on the previous peak from the source.

Nice work, looks cool. I'll have to get into making my first DRSSTC soon (after I get my current SSTC under control!). A YouTube video would be pretty cool.

ok, youtube video from my iphone.
Video quality is utter crap, but you can get the idea.
This was at about 60v bus voltage, and about 100uS burst width, so a very low power test as everythings indoors, and half built.

And another at about 100v bus, man the iphone takes crap video frown :
