I was digging in a dumpster and found these cool things: On the top terminal it has a rating of 10kva's, 22kv and 27kv, it says dist. arrester. It also has the name cooper, UltraSIL and UHS rating. Are they good for preventing power surges on high voltage pole transformers (22kv) and how would i test them? Also, if they are good, how much would they be worth if i where to sell them on ebay? If they are spent, i will just turn it into a standoff for the top of a tesla coil by running a wire through the middle.

Good find. Those look brand new. Yes they protect piggys from lightning strikes and you will get around $15 each on ebay. I think you can test them by applying a ohm meter to them and if they read low then they are probably spent.
