Hello all, are these laser goggles any good?
I plan to use them for an 808nm laser. Will these really work at the WL's stated by the seller? If these are bunk, what should one look for in a good pair of goggles? Thanks! Matt

Those goggles are OD2 for 808nm, which means they don't do much more than a decent pair of sunglasses (100x reduction in power).
I have a few pairs of 808/1064nm (and a few others, they weren't labeled well) goggles at home, but I wouldn't be able to send them until the 19th (stinking school...). $60 for a new pair or $30 for a used one (the used ones are pretty scratched up but work fine).
If you want to keep searching ebay (really the only place for these kinds of goggles) really just look for a pair that is rated OD4 or higher for 808nm.

Hello, Whew! Good thing I asked first. So...sunglasses you say. Hmmm, I have some nice raybans....No, I will keep looking on ebay. If nothing good comes up by the 19th, I may take you on your offer for the new ones. Matt

Hi Matt, Look for glasses with the highest OD (optical density) you can find. Any glasses you purchase will show the OD & the laser wavelength they are designed for. If this info is not on the glasses, I wouldn't use them.
I have 2 CO2 lasers & I found glasses online (not eBay) for $28. At a recent Ham radio flea market, I found NIB glasses made by ROCKWELL LASER INDUSTRIES for $2. They had an OD of 10 @ 10600 nm (CO2 laser wavelength). Have fun & be careful, you only get one set of eyes!
