Hi guys I just recently put together my Tesla Coil! Yay. But I have a problem. Im not getting any sparks. Here are my specifications

  • Spark Gap tesla coil
13.5 inch secondary with 2.75 inch diameter and 701 turns of 28 AWG wire
Wire wraped around 100 CD holder top thingy (crapy)
    12,000 imput voltage
    4 beer bottle caps
    1 inch spark gap
Ball wraped in aluminum foil as top load

Ok below is how I connected it

Your capacitor should be in series with the primary (like it is) but the spark gap should be across the transformer. Also 1" spacing for the spark gap seems a little large, set it so that it just fires when it is the ONLY thing hooked up to the transformer.

EDIT
Just like this Link2

Ok I rewired it just like this

Ok and the arc jump from the spark gap is .5 inches spaced and I get a plasma arc....no power coming off the top load

Try to change the primary tap. That is usually out of tune.

PS: The plasma arc is bright white or yellow/orange?

it also looks like your caps are in series not parallel bottle caps should be in parallel for higher capacitance

Yeah I think the same like Cain, usally yellow/orange arcs is like the cap isnt charging. Put it in parallel (the external sides together gives you one side, and the internal sides together gives other side) and try it again.
