Hi All!
Tungsten wire will seal to Pyrex very well, you clean the wire, and form an oxide coating by dipping it in molten Sodium Nitrite (Meat Preservative in the US.) Then rinse and clean with distilled H2O, and dry well. This works great for up to 1-2mm size W wire.
I bought the sodium nitrite and i tried this system using a tungsten welding rod........ IT WORKS GREAT!!!!



I tried this metod in the lab of one of my friend using a simple portable LPG torch instead of my usual oxygen-LPG torch and no anealing oven was used, in spite of the lower temperature and poor anealing procedures, the seal was made easily without cracking problems; this is a GREAT method and works really well!!!!!!
