One thing I will point out is that the mazzilli drive does not like capacitor charging in any way shape or form. If works fine with doubler arrangements, etc, but trying to charge a large capacitor throws off the resonance somehow and just causes all sorts of problems.
Yes I have had this problem too,
The way i see it is like adding a huge topload all of the sudden on a SSTC running with a driver capable of automaticly tuning itself trough 200-300khz , the fres would automaticly drop to 70khz or even less so the output would just drop as the driver cant reproduce that frequency, but in the mazzili driver this problem would be replaced by the resonant cap, it has a range of frequencies it can adjust too but if you all of the suden started charging a 10000uf capacitor it would throw the resonance way off.
Some one correct me if I am wrong
