I am looking around to find a good place to buy magnet wire, and I stumbled across Magnet4less.com. Has anyone ever had experience with this company, and if so, are they any good? Parawire.com also seems to have reasonable prices. Their prices are about half that of bulkwire.com, which was suggested by FastMHz in a thread about magnet wire a few months back. I am kind of cheap, so I'm looking for the best price on the wire, but I'm always wary about trying new online dealers.

Sometimes, searching for "enamelled copper wire" will produce better results than a search for "magnet wire."

Definitely - `magnet wire` is just a slang term really.

Well the magnet wire from parawire is heavy build insulated and i am using it and it is great. I got the wire i needed for less than anywhere else and there was not one place in the wire that was bent had stripped coating and no tangling. I was very satisfied and that is where i will buy all of the wire i will ever need ;).

Just ring up a motor rewinding place, they will by far be the cheapest.
They sell by weight, so you need to work out how much you need.

Oh, I see. So the motor winding place buys probably 200 lb spools and then respools the weight you ask for, allowing you to get the bulk discound then? I may just do that if I can find one in the area.

I tried that in Denmark, but unfiortunately they want a high price for a new spool and the worktime to respool it, so it ends up being more expensive :(

You are making it sound like they respool by hand. It is done by a large machine and takes all of 2 minutes.
THERE SHOULD NOT BE a big difference in cost!
50lbs does 1 8"dia coil (1800x) 1x 6.5" coil 1500x and 1x3.5" (1650x) ... .that was 50lbs of #26ga !!! How many coils are you doing with 200lbs????

I cant remember the exact details of the request, but it was something like 60$ for the wire, 40$ for respooling and 10$ for the new spool, its not a joke, its hard to find cheap components in denmark :(
