hi to all UK and european teslacoilers. the cambridge teslathon is now confirmed for the weekend of the 25th 26th of october. all welcome. for those who havent been before it is not restricted to tesla coils, any sort of reasonably safe high voltage loud noise sort of stuff is welcome. we do have an outside area for you to try out your toys as well as the hall. set up is from friday evening and we have to be out by 4.00 on sunday. the general public will be around all day Saturday till 5.00 and from 11.00 on Sunday. the venue is the Cambridge museum of technology. the best place to stay if you are coming for the weekend is this guest house.
the entrance fee for coils is 5.00 pounds and for guests 3.00 pounds. any profits after my expenses will go to the museum which relies on donations and ticket sales. they would like some demos and a short talk about tesla coils at some set time during the afternoon if we can manage it. about 5 /10 minutes to coincide with there demos of the steam engines. the museum will be in steam that weekend as well so plenty to see. further details nearer the time.

Is it open to anyone who wishes to come for a gander?
I certainly hope so - going with my son - we are building our first TC at the moment - a rather simple, small (2" x 14" secondary) Steve Ward based SSTC.
Any point in bringing it along (assuming it works by then!).

hi all, just a quick reminder of the details of the cambridge teslathon. the directions are here.
for those who havent been before,it is very laid back, some might even say it lacks structure just come along sometime between friday evening and sunday afternoon,we finish at 4.00, find a table and some power and fire away. hopefully common sense will prevail and we wont have 6 coils all running at the same time while the place is full of people. otherwise it is fairly laid back. we have been asked if we can do some demos for the public sometime to coincide with the museums program of demos. around 10 minutes. the entrance is the chedders lane one next to tescos, and we are in the single story brick biulding on the right as you go in ,next to the sea cadets hall. i am charging 3.00 for guests and a fiver if you bring a coil. this is only to cover the hire of the hall and and a few other expenses. some people last year complained about paying for bringing a coil. the charge is just to cover my costs if no one but coilers turn up. historically it was not open to the public so all the costs were born by the exhibitors. hope that is clear. i will be around friday evening and from around 11.00 saturday. feel free to phone me if you have any problems. 07866037094 there is a pub around the corner that does excellent thai food, a fish and chip shop and a large tescos next door. there will be tea and coffee available all day in the museum shop plus a tea urn after the shop closes. if you want to set your gear up Saturday and leave it set up overnight we can lock the building up when we finish Saturday, like wise anyone who wants to drop stuff off Friday evening. car parking is not a problem. plenty of room at the museum and on the road outside. or at a push tescos car park as long as you move every 2 hours. as pointed out dont be shy about bringing your half finished project, it is a good place to meet people and pick up ideas and help. plus there is usually someone selling some useful bits and pieces. see you all next week end. we usually finish around 8.00 pm saturday and retire to the pub for a chat and a meal.
