I am planing to test both of them together with a PLL CD4046 on a breadboard. (my design is referencing Dr. Conner and Uzzors' PLL SSTC design)

I know the output of the UCC37322/37321 is 9A, so I am wondering whether they are capable to be tested on a breadboard or not.
Can anyone answer my silly question?
Many thanks!! amazed cheesey smile tongue

Yes you can, it won't pull 9 amps all time.

It might... What frequinecy are you planning to use, and what type of mosfets?

If you are using a low frequiency, and a small load (small halfbridge of irfp450 or the likes) you should be OK as long as you put a good quality decoupling cap as close as you can to the supply leads of the chip (ie, use a cap with long leads and stick it directly across pin 5/8 or whatever the power pins are on your gate driver).

If you are trying to run at MHz frequneecies with a fullbridge of 55n50's or something you are going to have trouble...

The 9 amps is only peak pulsed current. It's unlikely that the gate driver chips will actually ever need to pulse that much current.

Here is the first prototype of my PLL driver. The UCCs are the two chips on the left.
