Well, sure. Slap a pretty buzzword on it, pretend that you're just a few tweaks away from transmitting power over much greater distances, and I'm sure you'll find a lot of believers who want to fund your research.
That said, I've worked out a new system that instantly delivers 90% of a ham sandwich up to three feet, by taking advantage of previously unexplored aspects of physics. I call it the SandwiTapult. I'm sure that, with the right funding, I can deliver ham sandwiches nearly instantly up to several miles, and maybe even other kinds of sandwiches. This will change the way we think about sandwiches.

Its just like every other 'miracle' techno-article, revolutions in nuclear, or solar power, new developments in chemistry or biology, a[nother] treatment for cancer (why no f--king cure yet?!?), so on and so forth. Its the media, and the reason why we're harping on these guys :D

Because there is more money to be made on the years of treatment, suffering, and drugs.
If we cure everyone then how would we have the research money to develop more drugs to prolong erections and promote hair growth? How would all those poor doctors afford those huge houses, country club memberships, and expensive cars? (No offense, Peter) How would the huge pharmaceutical corporations afford the campaign contributions to the corrupt government officials?

Yes, exactly! I heard of a case where some researchers invented a seemingly working cure for cancer, and the "technology" got immediately bought by a large medical company.

Oh how I wish some one would introduce rectennas based wireless to the youtube "science" crowd. News of wireless power causing blindness might possibly put some needed skepticism back into the media.
That said, the last microwave rectenna project I saw was pretty damn cool.

Guys, you have no idea what you are talking about... Cancer = thousands of different species of tumors with their specific molecular biology. Molecular biology of a cell is so complicated that super computers, atom bombs and "even tesla coils" are kinder-surprise-eggs-tasks if you compare it... stick to the things you understand and do not use cheap arguments of simple minded jealous people...

Sounds like you've been watching too many of them Michael Moore movies.
Why no cure for cancer yet? There are plenty of cures. However, each cancer is different and requires its own separate approach. Its like saying, we'll we found a cure for herpes virus, now why can't we cure *ALL* viruses.
