Recently I built a ZVS induction heater, and surprisingly it worked quite fine after a few tinkering. It has 7+7 turns, 1,32uF tank capacitor and mosfets are IRFP460. It draws about 8A at 21V, later on I will ramp up the voltage. The supply transformer weighs about 10Kg . I also have a question I'm monitoring the current at the center tap with a current transformer the current should be close to 0A right ?

Yes, because the current is largely DC with a small AC ripple. So your current transformer won't tell much other than how large the ripple is. Putting the CT on one of the drain wires, as in between the tank cap and work coil will show you how much current is flowing in the tank circuit. I'm curious as to how the insulated wire holds up to the heat?

Ok here is the follow up question. What does it mean if I'm reading a relatively high AC current at the center tap? As for the insulated wire it surprisingly holds up quite well since I'm not yet reaching very high temperatures. (steel gets to a bright red)

From what I think that ZVS means is that the center tap on your work coil should have twice as much current, or the sum (if for some reason each half isn't equal) of the current in both legs.

shouldnt the center tap take the same amount of current as the left and right ones as it operates in push pull meaning that each winding will give half a wave then the other will give its wave wave???

The center tap sees DC current with ripple. As long as the current transformer does not saturate, it will transfer the AC ripple so that's what are you seeing.

Now which of the components determine the ripples hight ?
The series DC choke - its inductance and saturation current. If the inductance is too small, ripple will be big. If the saturation current is low, the ripple can possibly get huge but there is no consensus if the choke saturation matters or not.
