I was looking here for some things to buy, and I found a very impressive rates TO-247 Mosfet.
That is IRFP90N20D:
200V
94A
380A Pulsed
580W Heat Dissipation
Gate 30V

Datasheet:
Link2

I was thinking about using it on SSTC, but I think to switch some what 50A I need a big ass heat sink .

What about using that on SSTC's or Even DRSSTCs? I found it for US$10 each

Thanks!

But 200V is a pretty low voltage, the safe input voltage would be about 100V AC, so a variac or step-down transformer is a must-have thing.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too, for a DRSSTC with that mosfets that I need to use somewhat 100VDC or so.
But for SSTC's I think its a powefull mosfet.
I am impressed about the dissipation rate, that is more than some MiniBrick IGBT's.

Can I use it to switch 4kW or so with a fullbridge of that mosfets?

Well, note the 580W dissipation is *only* if you can keep the case cool at 25degC. Which basically means you'll need a cold plate (liquid cooled) to do this.

From there, you derate 3.8W per degree C.

Hmm, a Peltier Cell with one side a copper bar with the mosfets and other side with a big heatsink + cooler will be good for that ?
