Hello all, I have some laser diodes left over that I would like to sell. They are all C mount with unknown wavelenghts. (Somewhere in the 800nm band is likely). I would doubt them to be 808nm, so these will be pimped for their burning ability.
They have been tested with a power meter to 3amps, and were found to output about 2 watts at that current level. I myself have pushed them past 4 amps and have had one running for about 15 hours. That is about 3watts. I dont know what they were intended for, nor what their true ratings are, thus cannot guarantee a safe operating value. They are likely meant for 1.5watts of continuous use, but may be over driven with shorter life time. I cant get my current laser driver to push them high enough to death as of now. (It maxes at 5 amps).
For a video of what they can do, see this youtube video of them running past 4amps. The video speaks for itself as to their ability.
I was selling them for $50.00 plus shipping on ebay, but ebay banned me for selling uranium. I will offer them here for 45.00$ plus shipping. I do accept paypal as well. They will be shipped shorted as to prevent static damage. Due to their extreme sensitivity, I will not be able to accept returns. They are all unused, and stored in static sensitive containers.
A little warning before anyone buys any: They are c mounts, and thus need to be mounted to a largish heatsink. They will need to have their laser chip face protected from debris. (They IGNITE wood and thus make ALOT of smoke!) They need a VERY good constant current driver. These things are super sensitive! My driver had an oopsy at 4amps (large 1amp jump in current and then craziness when an FET failed) and killed that one I had running for over 15 hours! Oopsies = death! If you dont have a driver, or dont want to build one, use batteries! They work very well, but tend to drain quick! Make sure to ask many many questions here or through PM before powering them on if you are unsure. I am HAPPY to spend hours explaining things as well.
Finally, be VERY careful! These are MANY times stronger than a laser pointer and one mistake will be the last for your eyes! Another member here is selling laser goggles I beleive. They would be a good idea. A note about shipping: In the USA, shipping will be about $5.00 for the packaging, tracking, and postage for 1st class. For international, it will be more. The only way to track these via international is with express mail. It is pricey! I think it is around $26.00 for express mail international. (3-5days). I will not be liable for customs confiscations either. Make sure your country allows these. I will label them as " Electronic diode components". Let me know what you want the customs form to say if otherwise.
